What this site keeps
- Daily totals: page views, visitors, time on the page, and counts by country, device type, browser and the site that linked here.
- For each visit, kept for 60 days: the time, country, device type, browser and operating system, preferred language, how long the page was open, and whether the page was interacted with (moved over, tapped, scrolled or typed on: yes or no). This helps tell real people from automated bots. Also how many times a few things were used: letters sent, pings, and opening the chat, a stamp, the guide or this page. Just the numbers, never what was written.
Nothing is read from your device: no screen size, fonts, time zone or similar. Country, browser and language come from what every browser normally sends with a request. Your IP address and full browser identifier are never written down. To count a visitor once per day, the site uses a scrambled code made with a random key that only exists in memory and is replaced every day, so visits can’t be traced back to you or linked across days.
Letters
Letters you write to Nick are end-to-end encrypted in your browser before they’re sent, using quantum-resistant encryption (X25519 combined with ML-KEM-768, then AES-256-GCM). The server only stores the scrambled text and can’t read it. Only Nick’s browser can. If you add your name or an email so Nick can write back, they’re sealed inside the same encryption, so the server never sees them either. Each letter is deleted automatically 7 days after it was sent. Your side of the conversation lives only in your open tab: close or refresh it and your browser forgets the key, so you can’t read that conversation again. Nick’s copy is deleted after the same 7 days, or sooner if he deletes it. While the tab is open you can unsend any of your letters, or all of them at once, which removes them from the server straight away. Nick can see when you’ve read his replies, and you can see when he’s read yours.

None.
Who handles the data
- Hetzner (Germany) hosts the server.
- Cloudflare delivers the site, protects it from attacks and tells it which country a visit comes from. It sees your IP address to do that.
Why
To understand how many people visit and keep bots out. This is a legitimate interest under the GDPR (Art. 6(1)(f)).
